Michael Eugene Frank
Michael
Eugene Frank, 62, of Strasburg, passed away on Friday, March 2,
2012, at home. Michael was born in Lancaster on July 1, 1949, and
was the son of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Mellinger) Frank. He was the
devoted husband of Barbara Rathbone-Frank for 17 years.
Michael worked
as a restoration carpenter for the Strasburg Rail Road Company for
21 years, and enjoyed rebuilding wooden railroad cars to their
original splendor so that visitors could experience a ride into
the 19th century and appreciate America’s steam-powered
railroad legacy. He served his country during the Vietnam Conflict
in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971.
Michael
enjoyed spending time at home and hosting dinners for family,
friends and neighbors. His hobbies included target shooting,
traveling, water gardening and G-scale model railroading. He was a
member of the Strasburg Area Sertoma Club and Strasburg Sportman’s
Association.
In addition to
his wife, Michael is survived by his 4 sisters Edie Chapman, of
Murfreesboro, TN, Rose, wife of Paul Young of Pinehurst, NC,
Amanda, wife of Gerald Stauffer of New Holland, and Annie, wife of
Bruce Meyerhoffer of Palmyra.
A memorial
service for Michael will be held at Wesley United Methodist
Church, 40 West Main Street, Strasburg, on Friday, March 9 at 11
AM with The Rev. Tim Patterson officiating. Friends may visit with
the family on Friday one hour before the service. In lieu of
flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to a favorite
charity, or to Hospice of Lancaster County, PO Box 4125,
